What is different about hiring a maid in Bangalore
Apartment societies have their own rules
Gated communities in Whitefield, Sarjapur Road, HSR Layout and Electronic City usually require a gate pass, police-verification copy or society ID before domestic staff can enter. Ask your RWA what they need before the start date, not after.
Water timing shapes the work
Many Bengaluru buildings run on borewell and tanker schedules. If washing and mopping have to fit a supply window, say so up front. It changes which hours actually work.
Count the bathrooms, not the BHK
Pay in Bengaluru tracks the real workload: number of bathrooms, floors, balconies and whether there are pets. A 3BHK duplex is not the same job as a 3BHK flat.
Language for instructions

Hiring a maid in Bangalore's tech corridors
Bangalore is not one hiring market for maids. It is five or six, and where you live decides how the hiring actually works: who is available, how they get to you, and what the going rate in your building is.
Whitefield and ITPL run on gate passes: large complexes where a maid often works the same tower all day and rarely takes a job outside it. The Outer Ring Road belt (Bellandur, Marathahalli, Sarjapur Road) is dense apartment country with fast tenant turnover, so a good maid there is usually replacing a family that just moved out. HSR Layout and Koramangala mix independent houses with apartments, and maids commute in from the areas around them.
Electronic City is its own market in the south. The old south (Jayanagar, JP Nagar, BTM Layout) has longer tenures and hiring still runs on word of mouth. Hebbal and the north are growing fast on the airport side. The practical point for every one of them: post your exact locality in Bangalore, not just the city. A maid who works Whitefield cannot take a job in Jayanagar, and the applicants you get will tell you immediately whether your area is well served.
Travelling? What to do about your maid in Bangalore
Most Bengaluru households travel: Diwali, the summer school break, a fortnight for work. What happens to your maid while you are away is worth settling before the first trip, because it is the arrangement that quietly ends more good hires in Bangalore than anything else.
Keep paying. A short trip is a paid break; that is the norm in Bangalore and the alternative is coming home to find your maid has taken another house. For a month or longer, agree a retainer up front. Agree the keys. If she is to keep working while you are away, put it in writing: what she will do, which days, and who else has access. For a live-in maid, decide whether she stays in the house or goes home, and who pays her travel. Then say all of it before you book the tickets, not the night before you leave.
